About the Book

Look, look, look what three tiny mice have found. A postcard with a painting entitled "Portrait of Lady Clopton" by Robert Peake on the front. They look, look, look at the painting and see that it has patterns, colors, lines, and shapes. As they keep looking and seeing, they experiment with paper, scissors, and markers, experiencing the excitement that comes with creative thinking and doing. Children will be inspired by this introduction to art and observation, illustrated with Nancy Elizabeth Wallace’s signature paper-cut artwork. A glossary and postcard activity reinforces lessons learned throughout the book.

NANCY ELIZABETH WALLACE lives in Branford, Connecticut.

LINDA K. Look! Look! Look!

"An unusual and strongly commended addition to family, school, and community picturebook collections for children ages 5 to 8, Look! Look! Look! is enthusiastically recommended for artistic young readers as a picturebook tale of interest, information, and ideas."
Children’s Bookwatch, July 2006

"Of the growing number of picture books that attempt to instill art appreciation in a young audience, this title stands out for its charm, usefulness, and age appropriateness.... Deceptively simple, this eye-opening, fresh look at art education offers good opportunities for classroom exercises."
—Booklist, May 1, 2006

"The exercises performed are some solid entrees into the examination of a painting (co-author Friedlaender is the curator of education at the Yale Museum of British Art, where the original of Lady Clopton’s portrait resides) that blessedly give young art viewers something to do in looking at art instead of endless open-ended questions to answer."
—The Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, April 2006

"This is not only an amusing, creative story, but also an adventure into art that encourages originality while inspiring creativity. Great for libraries and elementary art instructors."
—School Library Journal, March 2006

"An accessible book, packed with learning opportunities."
—Kirkus Review, March 1, 2006
