About the Book
Vincent van Dog and Henri T. LaPooch are two very different dogs. When Henri visits Vincent in the country, he finds it a little too slow for his taste. And when Vincent travels to the city to visit Henri, the noise and bustle overwhelm him. It looks as if their friendship is doomed—until the two agree to meet at the beach. Peppered with French phrases with translations and including reproductions of familiar postimpressionist paintings, this bright, humorous book borrows from the lives of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh for a thoroughly original spin on an Aesop’s fable.

SUSAN STEVENS CRUMMEL’s collaborations with her sister, illustrator Janet Stevens, include the ALA Notable book And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon and the 2001 Texas Bluebonnet Award Winner, Cook-A-Doodle Doo! She also collaborated with Dorothy Donohue on All in One Hour. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas.

DOROTHY DONOHUE’s colorful cut-paper artwork illuminates her previous books Veggie Soup, Big and Little on the Farm, Frozen Noses, and All in One Hour. She lives in Boulder, Colorado.

"The large cut-paper illustrations are filled with texture, bright colors, and humor. Artworks done in the style of van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec are incorporated into the pictures. A lively and fun take on Aesop’s beloved tale."
