Emma Dilemma and the Camping Nanny

Full Text Review(s)
"Nine-year-old Emma lives with her four siblings, her parents, and, most importantly, her nanny, Annie. Her life begins to change when Bo, Annie’s boyfriend, begins to spend time with Annie on the weekends and evenings, and Emma doesn’t like sharing her nanny. Then Emma’s best friend, Luisa, becomes friends with Katie, and Emma is so overcome with jealousy that she begins to make poor decisions. During a camping trip, Emma decides to make Bo look like a coward. The plan backfires, and she realizes that Annie will never be lonely because of Emma’s family and Bo, and that it’s possible to love more than one person. Beginning chapter-book readers will enjoy meeting these characters, and many children will relate to Emma’s feelings of being left out and jealous."

"Emma Dilemma, last seen in Emma Dilemma and the Soccer Nanny (2008), returns to sort through a new tangle of mishaps. Here, the sixth-grader feels jealous and abandoned after her beloved nanny starts spending lots of time training with her male Irish dance partner. Emma’s conflicts intensify when her best friend, Luisa, seems to prefer another classmate. Once again, Emma shows some poor judgment as she wrestles with her complicated feelings, but her loving family helps her straighten every situation out.
Filled with the challenge of managing everyday emotions, this reassuring read makes another strong entry in the series."
