* "While you may think you have plenty of biographies on hand of these staples, this six book series will prove you wrong! Collard skillfully manages to provide young readers with a true sense of each person’s humanity in addition to their accomplishments. Even adults who have taught these persons for years will glean some new insight through Collard’s incorporation of unique anecdotes and clear, thoughtful descriptions. The design elements of each book in the series are northing short of beautiful and well-thought out. Limited text on a page surrounded by effective use of subtle color bordering will appeal even to reluctant readers. The inclusion of several works of art and images from various museums attractively complement the text. Other value-added bonuses are a thorough glossary, simple-to-use index, and meaty resource lists that are extremely useful. A teacher introducing a beginning biography report would start off with a bang by using one from this series as an example. Mr. Collard, please write more biographies just like these!
