About the Series
There are many reasons why the prehistoric world captures the imagination of children, but dinosaurs certainly play a major role. It only makes sense, therefore, to open the Prehistoric World series with an investigation of that world's best-known inhabitants: dinosaurs. Painting a vivid picture of life as we think it then existed, each book features a different type of dinosaur, focusing on a well-known member of a particular group but also discussing its relatives and other similar creatures. Coverage includes the animal's physical characteristics, the world in which it lived, how it lived, and the secrets of its daily survival.

School Library Journal, May 2004

"This series is a good one to add to a classroom library; it will motivate readers at any elementary grade."
NSTA Recommends, 2003

"There is an impressive amount of science packed into the thirty-two pages of each book....The artwork is superb throughout the series and shows a variety of dinosaurs, each complete with skin texture and coloration. The best part of the illustration scheme is the focus on life activities as many of the dinosaurs are shown in active settings: feeding, defense, nesting, hunting. The five books are an exceptional value and will inspire young people for years to come."
Science Books & Films, May/June 2003

"The text reads like a popular chapter book, hooking the reader immediately. There is nothing cut-and-dried here. These volumes will fly off the shelf! Highly Recommended."
