About
the Series
How big is
your
environmental
footprint? This important series is about the footprints people leave behind
them. But these are special footprints. These "footprints" are
long-and short-term effects people have on the environment. By using examples
that are part of a child’s own day-to-day life, this series introduces
ecological sustainability in a child-friendly way while simultaneously providing
easy tips on how to be green.
Each book provides simple examples of how
everyday uses of resources result in "heavy" or "light"
environmental footprints. These examples present information and case studies
that allow young students to consider the impact they have on the environment in
their daily lives, and to consider how we can all change our
"footsteps" so we leave a light "footprint" for future
sustainability. For example, using too much water leaves a heavy footprint and
can lead to water shortages. Rethink! Instead of running the tap and waiting for
the water to get cold, keep a jug of water in the fridge for cold drinks.
