"These larger sized field guides are meant to serve as tools to help readers observe and gain knowledge of the various topics in this series. Each title begins with a how-to draw section in the front of the book and a list of tools and materials students will need to have for their observations in the back. Each page begins with a definition and explanation and is organized like a field notebook with photos, drawings, charts, notes, and arrows illustrating the topic and scientific methods of observation. Readers will like the large print of detailed, colorful photos and illustrations. They will spark readers’ interest, encouraging them to delve further into the book for research or to pursue their own interests. This series of books would be a good addition to the library to support curricular topics in the classroom as well as to use as a resource on the library shelves."
